Toddle Talk

Description:

Train to become a baby signing instructor with Toddle Talk, run your own classes but still feel part of a team.

This training course is a unique and comprehensive baby signing course, BSL backed training.  We are not a costly franchise, rather a training and membership programme, meaning as a Toddle Talk associate teacher you will automatically benefit from use of our lovely tried and tested class plans, our comprehensive training manual, hold your own listing on our website and have the benefit of being able to use the Toddle Talk logo and media.

The training is all provided remotely and via an online learning course, making it even easier to train. Plus any applicant who is not already holding a BSL certificate will learn and achieve a BSL qualification with our own Signature certified instructor and assessor.

You will then set up your classes and run this as your own business as one of our certified instructors, with the flexibility that comes with being your own boss, but with the added benefit of still being part of our team. With mentoring support available at any time and the growing brand building around you.

My view

Name: Joanne

Location: Cleethorpes

Life: 2 young children

How often do you work?
I run 3 classes per week, to fit in with my family, so with the set up and pack away time and any organisational work, I use about 10 hours per week. But some of my colleagues run more sessions and work nearly full time hours.

How does the job fit around your family life?
I can run the classes in term time only, if I prefer and around the school run, so it fits in perfectly.

How much time do you commit?
About 10 hours per week in total, but this is fitted around my family and other commitments.

Where do you carry out your work?
I run classes in my local village hall, a nursery and a community centre in the next town so just a few minutes down the road from my home.

Do you need a car?
It is easier with a car but there is not too much equipment needed, so it is doable without one.

Do you get support/training?
Yes, the training course was great and this was flexible too. The course was extensive in what it covered, Ann, the trainer was very knowledgeable, it was online with study in my own time plus remote learning over Zoom and then completed my BSL assessment. It’s great to have the teacher team group to discuss any concerns with or to help boost confidence at any time, especially when starting out.

Would you recommend this opportunity to others?
I really enjoy my role, its flexible around my family, I can work the days I like and it’s useful that I can chose term time only. I enjoy being in classes with families and teaching them something really useful and fun.

Do you advertise?
I promote my classes on the local pages on Facebook and social media as well as the local what’s on guides, which is all free. Sometimes I pay for an advert to boost awareness of my sessions but this only costs small amounts.

Are there any downsides to the role?
Income and bookings can vary, as with any self-employed role and you need to maintain promoting the classes and keeping social media up to date.
