How often do you work?
That’s entirely up to you. You will need to be able to work evenings and weekends (as we teach school-aged children), but there really is so much flexibility. You can run as many classes as you like each week, and as you grow there are opportunities to take on team members. You’ll need to set aside time for admin, marketing, finance etc, but we really do make that as easy as possible for you.

How does the job fit around your family life?
You will have unlimited flexibility. You can work around school drop-off and pick-up times. You can schedule your working hours around the kids’ swimming lessons. You can choose which days you work… We teach children aged 4-18 years old, our classes are delivered in the evening and on weekends. So, you will need to be able to commit to these hours – though there is still plenty of flexibility.

How much time do you commit?
Again, that really is down to you. The more classes you want to run, the more time you will need to commit – of course, you’ll also become more successful, and grow your business quicker. You will need to factor in time for things like marketing, admin, finance, and so on. When you do this is up to you, though.

Where do you carry out your work?
Each franchisee has their own territory where they can deliver classes. Typically, you will start by hiring community centres, church halls, or other venues. As you grow, there are opportunities to open your very own drama studio – you’ll get help from head office to do this, as well as from other franchisees who have already taken the leap.

Do you need a car?
Yes, we would definitely recommend that you do have a car. You will need to be able to travel to venues across your franchise area, and there will be equipment to transport to and from classes.

Do you get support/training?
Loads of it! Before you even ‘sign on the dotted line’, we help you create a business plan. This enables you to see what life will be like as a franchisee, and can be used to secure finance if needed. We then take you through a comprehensive training programme – covering everything from running classes to marketing, customer service to staffing.

Would you recommend this opportunity to others?
At Starz Drama School, we have built successful businesses around our passion, our families, and our commitments. We get to do something that we love, and we get to see the difference that performing arts can make to children’s confidence, resilience and imagination every single day.

Do you advertise?
Absolutely! We are continually investing in our marketing, and have recently launched a brand new, optimised website to help our franchisees grow their local businesses. We also run various marketing campaigns to help you get noticed in your area. When you join, we give you a comprehensive to launch your business. After that, we continue to provide help and advice to help you grow and succeed.

Are there any downsides to the role?
No! We all love what we do, and the fact that we have been able to build successful businesses around our passion for performing arts, as well as around our families… well, it just means everything to us! Life as a Starz Drama School franchisee is full of fun. You’ll need to be prepared to work hard, of course, but we give you all the help you could possibly need to be super successful.
