Pregnant and Working?

"Stay at home and claim benefits like other mums" - we're shocked to hear that these were the words of one manager to his employee after the birth of her child!

Women under 25 six times more likely to loose their jobs when having a baby according to the Equality and Human Rights Commission15% felt under pressure to hand their notice in.  One quarter said it had an effect on their health and stress levels.

The report also claims under-25s are often given unsuitable workloads, discouraged from attending antenatal appointments and suffer from more stress than other expectant mothers.

This doesn't have to be the case. Check out our advice on dealing with the challenge of maternity leave and rights for all mums here http://www.mumandworking.co.uk/flexible-working-advice/maternity-leave  and also pay a visit to the Equality and Human Rights section 'Power to the Bump' https://www.equalityhumanrights.com/en/power-bump, it contains loads of useful information to help you have a happy and healthy pregnancy in the workplace! It has been designed with young working mums like you in mind.
