Baby and Toddler Play Classes
Posted: 13th Dec 2020 Closing: 13th Mar 2021
Little City UK
We are an entirely mobile role play City for the under 5’s to explore, discover and enjoy. Utilising our bespoke backdrops and specially selected high-quality toys and equipment, your child can fully immerse themselves in their own world.
Our children are our biggest observers: they have watched us as adults go to the supermarket, post letters in the Post Office and style our hair. At Little City they can ‘be’ grown ups: where nothing is off limits, they can be the hairdresser, the mechanic, the builder, the café owner and much, much more.
At Little City we aim
- To provide an inclusive pretend-play experience for all parents, carers and children under 5, open to the entire community.
- To enable children to explore role play in their way, with no boundaries or limitations irrespective of gender, race, culture or ability.
- To offer an open, safe and inviting environment in which all customers feel confident and valued.
The franchisee role is to bring the City to life in their local area: using our tailored backdrops, bring a unique play opportuntiy to children and their parents/carers.
Would you like to become part of the Little City crew? Would you like to work for yourself, choosing your own hours and offering something unique to local parents in your area? Are you creative, keen to work for yourself and drive your own business? Can you drive a van?
We're looking for self-motivated individuals keen to work for themselves and with children and their parents. Our small team is independent and we offer a role where you can really influence change and how the business is run. Our reputation and reviews are all about how safe, clean and friendly our events are: can you deliver this whilst running your own unique business? We'd love to hear from you if so.
£5500 for initial licence fee (2 year minimum licence) Purchase of van (tbc) Purchase of all toys and equipment for your city £3000
The franchisee picks their own hours and days worked; we recommend working 2-3 days a week (events are usually in the mornings). Some weekend work is required for party and private hire.
Each event (per day) can earn anywhere between £100 - £200 a day (depending on sales, takings and COVID restrictions). Full information and earning potential will be offered to any potential candidate after a confidentiality form is signed.
Best suited to:
A creative, self-motivated individual keen to work with children and their parents. We're looking for people who want to drive their own business, input their own ideas and work independently within our dispersed but close-knit team. All team members must be DBS checked, and complete first aid and safeguarding training.
Location: Chelmsford, Essex
How often do you work?
I choose to work three week days a week from 8:15-1:15pm and usually one weekend day for parties totalling 4 hours, I could work more, I could work less!
How does the job fit around your family life?
Running my own Little City business allows me fantastic flexibility and more time spent with my children. Because I choose the days and hours I work, I can pick up my son from school, my daughter earlier from nursery and enjoy more quality time together. I earn just as much if not more than my 9-5, 5 days a week job and take so much more pleasure from running my own business.
How much time do you commit?
The time given to the business is as much as I want to get out of it. If I spend a little more time being prompt with any admin: responding to customer queries, planning new ideas making my social media and advertising interesting then I get more from my business in customer engagement and sales. But this can be planned easily around my life.
Where do you carry out your work?
I run my public sessions and party hires in local village halls and community centres with parents and 0-5 year old children. I spend time in the evenings in the comfort of my home on my social media and advertising.
Do you need a car?
I get to drive a big white van for my work! And its surprisingly enjoyable! The city won't fit in anything smaller.
Do you get support/training?
Our franchisor Vicki offers us support and training on the basics, we train with one of the other franchisees on the practical side of setting up the city and we have other training packages such as Social media etc.
Would you recommend this opportunity to others?
I would definitely recommend Little City to anyone who is up for a challenge, creative and wanting to own a business thats rooted in giving parents and children an enjoyable, safe and high quality play experience local to them. After taking on the business nearly 2 years ago, I haven't looked back!
Do you advertise?
I advertise as much as I need to, using my Facebook and Instagram pages, selling and mummy sites on Facebook and of course word of mouth is very valuable.
Are there any downsides to the role?
The only downside at the moment is Covid! It has made a huge impact financially but I have no doubt when we are clear of it, I'll be back to full steam again.
