Why Yoga?

Yoga for children provides many unique benefits for health and wellness for all ages…below are some of those that our sessions provide:

 A healthy Gut:

A well cared for digestive system through yoga and massage can help aid common childhood ailments such as wind, constipation, and colic.   Through the practice of yoga in childhood helps to keeps it healthy in adulthood.

Promotes body awareness and confidence:

Yoga is a great way a child can become aware of their body, how it bends and what it can do, as progression through sessions is made you can see confidence grow.

Improves Coordination and gross/fine motor skills:

Yoga helps to fine tune coordination and gross motor skills. Massage can help by keeping the flexibility within the muscles whilst yoga can build the strength on it.

 Helps build muscle strength:

Yoga can both loosen and tighten up muscles within the body.  Therefore, creating strength and flexibility within the body.

Don’t just take our word for it – here’s what our parents are saying about our yoga classes for children …

We love the yoga sessions and have just booked up for another term. A lovely atmosphere and accessible yoga moves depending on your babies age. A lovely chance to meet other mum’s and babies and to spend quality time chilling out with your baby

Gemma Roche

Highly recommend the Daddy Yoga sessions. Took part in today’s session and it was great. There aren’t many classes out there for dads so this is a perfect way for dads to bond with their little ones. Vicky was great and super supportive; offering lots of tips and guidance on all the actions. I have done the yoga sessions with my older daughter but this was my son’s first yoga session and he loved it”  Daniel Mart

“Grace has absolutely loved baby yoga this term. She has growing loads since starting her classes with Vicky. From showing no reaction at 10 weeks to laughing and smiling throughout now at 15 weeks old. We’ve loved it that much we’ve booked for next term. Can’t wait!

Also with everything going on, I’ve felt so safe and no that Vicky and her team are doing everything to ensure we can still carry on in a safe environment”
Jess Hill

We love developmental massage with Jess on Friday afternoons. We were instantly welcomed into the class and made to feel at home. Jess is a wonderful teacher who takes time to explain the benefits of each of the massage techniques and I have certainly noticed a difference in baby’s motor skills. The techniques are perfect for windy/colicky babies and really do work wonders! Parents are made to feel comfortable and Jess makes sure everyone takes the class at their own pace. I would highly recommend this class to anyone!

Amy Louise Kilty

We love baby yoga! It’s a great bonding experience and we love learning all the moves to the songs. Jess and Katie have been great ensuring we’re all safe and adhering to all the latest government guidelines whilst still having fun. Always results in a good nap after which is a bonus!

Kalma Life for a Calmer Life

WHY BECOME A KALMA LIFE FRANCHISEE?

Imagine having a job where by the end of your working day, your face literally ached from smiling?!… Where your colleagues varied from some of the most supportive women in the world, to the cutest little people?
Well, that’s what you get when you join Kalma Life.

How did I join Kalma Life?
I became a Kalma Life Teacher in 2018 after I returned to my corporate role in Sales and realised, I couldn’t stand the pressure anymore. I was suffocated by the demands made of me, by the time I was expected to commit and the pressure to hit targets.

I wanted to work flexibly but was told I couldn’t. I wanted to enjoy my time at work, rather than feel stressed out and sad I wasn’t with my child. I knew I needed to start prioritising my health. Bonus points if I could improve my fitness as well. Sitting at a desk all day just wasn’t the one for me anymore!

At the end of my maternity leave, I had attending Toddler Yoga sessions in my area. I had been attending Hot Yoga in Bristol for quite some time. (And at this stage had only ever dreamt about becoming a yoga teacher myself!) So when I heard about Kalma Life yoga, I knew I wanted to take my son along. Classes were fantastic; full of the fundamentals of yoga, but with a unique twist ideal for engaging babies and toddlers.

After attending a term as a parent, I found out that the Franchisee and yoga instructor, Cassie, was due to go on maternity leave and would be recruiting someone to cover her sessions. I saw an opportunity…

I took an enormous leap and quit my job, on the same day messaging Cassie and asking if I could be the person she hired to cover her maternity leave! Could I make my dream of becoming a yoga teacher a reality?

Well, guess what? I got the job and nearly 5 years later, I’m still here!

What’s to love about being a Kalma Franchisee and Teacher?

I adore my job. It fits in around my life and commitments. I now have 2 young children and a husband who works shifts, so the flexibility of choosing my timetable was a game changer.
Instead of long commutes to work and to meetings, I now make a quick trip to a local venue and spend my time laughing, singing, dancing and doing my favourite thing, YOGA!

Instead of deadlines, stress and long hours sat at a desk, my job literally gives me a massive boost of Dopamine and Endorphins just through being there.

It isn’t always easy, especially if I’ve had a terrible night’s sleep or all the kids in my class that day are in an off mood, but it’s always rewarding. I get to; watch parents work their way through the fourth trimester and come out the other side, see babies hit their milestones and celebrate with them, watch friendships between both yogis and parents blossom, see school children learn to regulate their emotions, see a room of children utterly relaxed and at peace.

Not a single day is the same, to be a Kalma Yoga Teacher, you have to be able to think on your feet and you certainly have to have a sense of humour but being a part of Team Kalma is without a doubt the best decision you’ll ever make. It was for me!

How big is the Childrens yoga business?
We now have 3 team members in North Somerset, and are part of an amazing team of franchisees across the country. I couldn’t do without the support of my fellow teachers, my girl gang, my yoga family!

And despite the old adage, “never work with animals or children” I will forever advocate for working with children. They are incredible and we are privileged to be working with the next generation, helping them learn ways to protect their wellbeing and look after their mental health.
Being a part of Kalma Life means not only do you get to work with babies and toddlers, but you also get to teach in schools, work in prenatal and postnatal yoga and engage with many other people in your community!

I recently delivered sessions for an entire school in support of Childrens Mental Health Week. Helping young people develop their resilience and learn how to protect their wellbeing is priceless!

The scope within a Kalma Life Franchise is endless. Some Franchise Owners have gone on to open their own dedicated Yoga Studio or Hub, whereas others have partnered with Dementia Charities and Care Homes to provide Intergenerational Sessions, aimed at improving the wellbeing of care home residents.

If you’ve read this far, you’re probably pretty interested… so why not head to www.kalmayogafranchise.co.uk to find out more about how to join Kalma Life and complete the contact form to receive your Franchise Pack.
