Tech Lead for Social Media Training, systems and Projects at Digital Mums

Roanna is the tech lead for social media training company and creators of the #WorkThatWorks Movement, Digital Mums

She’s responsible for  leading the implementation of the company’s learning technology that has delivered innovative online training to over 1,000 mums since launch three years ago.

Digital Mums specialises in getting mums job-ready with in demand social media and digital skills, so they can find rewarding roles that sync with family life. They offer two training programmes to mums via a REAL learning model.  In its simplest form this means combining work/project based learning with online learning.  So instead of offering theory based courses with simulated projects, students run a real life social media campaign during their training.

Digital Mums has a big vision to support every mum to achieve their perfect work-life balance, which they call ‘work that works’. It’s a vision that they fully embrace, with their whole team given the option to work flexibly and remotely.

This has meant Roanna -  a mother of three - is still able to continue her career in tech while working around her children.

In her past life, Roanna worked on a number of high profile contracts as part of a Business Improvement team. Over 14 years, Roanna has worked to implement systems, optimise service delivery and improve business workflows across the UK in a variety of sectors. Roanna was working long hours to hit deadlines and once she met her husband, who was also part of the team, she eventually decided to look for a more family-friendly role. As is sadly still the case in so many jobs - asking for flexible working in her role was not an option.

Roanna now campaigns alongside Digital Mums for everyone to have access to #WorkThatWorks
