Career Focus - The World of Complementary Medicine and Alternative Therapies

Rejuvanessence

Developed by Margareta Loughran, Rejuvanessence employs precise, gentle, fingertip massage to release tension in the 91 muscles of the face, neck, skull and shoulders. The technique is more than just a beauty treatment. It releases tightened muscles and works on the connective tissue to make it more elastic and flexible. It releases blocked energy through work on the acupuncture points and meridians, thus helping to detoxify and balance the body.

Name - Caroline Josling

Location - Battersea, London

Family - Single mother with one daughter aged three and eight months.

How did you become a Rejuvanessence Therapist? What is your background?

I became a Rejuvanessence Therapist having been a model for many years. I was looking for a career that was self employed and versatile I always was interested in Complementary medicine and trained as massage therapist which include anatomy and physiology. I then trained in Rejuvanessence. That was 1993. I am now a certified teacher and teach students to be therapists. There is no prerequisite to the training.

What exactly does Rejuvanessence Therapy involve?

Rejuvanessence is a unique holistic therapy sometimes known as the 'Angels Touch'or 'Fingertip Facelift'. Gentle, very precise massage of 91 muscles of face, neck and shoulders, releasing pent-up stress. Also working on meridians and acupuncture points, restores the natural flow of energy, balancing and revitalising body, mind and spirit.

What sort of problems/issues do clients normally have when they come to you for help/therapy?

Most people come because of the cosmetic face lifting effect but there is so much more to it than that. A deep profound healing experience and a release of tension in the face and head therefore good for teeth clenching and tension headaches and sinus problems.

What/Where was your training? How long did it take overall?

The training takes 13 days over approximately 5 months. I trained in London.

Roughly, how much did your training cost?

The training costs £1,175 in total.

Where do you carry out your work?

In Central London.

Do you need lots of specialist equipment?

No.

How many hours do you work a week?

Between 20 -30 hours, more when I am running trainings.

How does the job fit round your family life?

My daughter goes to a day care nursery three days a week.

How do you find clients - do you advertise?

I work at a centre and I have a healthy client base over the years.

What is the earning potential?

Around £25,000 per year.

Is the job rewarding?

Yes.

Do you think it is a job that fits in well with being a Mum?

Brilliantly!

Do you think you have to have any special qualities (in terms of personality) to become a Rejuvanessence Therapist?

Need to like people and be kind and tactile and health conscious.

Any advice for a Mum or Dad wanting to start training?
